I have a VSAM file& a copy book of the same. I have converted it into a sequqntial file. How can I know the starting&ending position of each&every fields in the sequential file? will it be the same as the definition in the copy book of the VSAM file?
Can anyone help me out in this matter?
Thanking you,

Hi,
I would like to convey you that I dont have mainframe ID with me right now for some reasons. But as soon as I get it it, I'll have to load the program &test it. So I dint get a chance to compare the flat file with the copybook. So understanding this point, Can someone help me out in this situation by suggesting how to know the staring position, offset or ending position of each of the fields?
Thanking you ,

If the record structure is the same, if you used the same copybook, yes, they will all be the same.
If you changed the size of any fields, or changes the usage (comp to comp-3 for example) of any fields, no, they will be different. |
