Hi Frank,
I have query, the SQZ option is it only available with
Z/OS 1.7
or it can be used on
Z/OS 1.4 with the those patches required for SQZ installed.
This is because my shop people told me this option runs on the Z/OS 1.7 and I don't agree with the statement.
Please assist in clarifying
Thanks

Frank can confirm this, but if your 1.4 is running DFSort r14, the PTFs should be the only requirment for SQZ and the rest. |

I think that if you can find the actual PTF on the IBM website, it (might) list the minimum level of operation system that it can be applied to.
But, I'd bet that if R14 can survive on 1.4 then the PTFs can also. |

the PTF required are
z/OS DFSORT V1R5 PTF UK90007 or DFSORT R14 PTF UK90006 (April, 2006)
but don't know about the survival part |

DFSORT R14 runs on z/OS 1.4 and below. SQZ is available for DFSORT R14 with PTF UK90006 (April, 2006).
DFSORT V1R5 runs on z/OS 1.5 and above. SQZ is available for DFSORT V1R5 with PTF UK90007 (April, 2006).

Your shop people are confused. SQZ is available on all z/OS versions with the appropriate PTF for DFSORT. |
