Why do we mention +1 for a GDG version when its getting created in a previous step in the same job??
I searched the forum for clues.... and what i got is
"If you are running under JES2 it's +1. By running JES3 it's 0.
JES2 is cataloging Datasets at JobEnd and JES3 is cataloging Datasets at StepEnd." from UmeySan
Is this TRUE???
I tried with a sequential dataset in which the job is abending down the lane but the sequential files are getting created in the previous steps and catalogued and i am on a JES2 system.
If this is the case we should mention +0 for GDG versions. Can somebody please clarify this query?? |

I would suggest that there is a difference between the way in which the two operating systems interpret the JCL at reader time. |

I'm curious as to why the O/P cares what JES3 does if they're a JES2 shop? |
