I have a tape file in a GDG. I want to know the creation date of these GDG versions. I used to use TMS of CA. But its not working in my installation now. Can anyone please give me some JCL to find out this date?

Thanks
Vel.

What tape management product do you use now ?

You can print off the tape label and that should contain the date information.

Use IEBGENER
Code:

//SYSUT1   DD DSN=whatever,UNIT=xxxx, VOL=SER=volser,
//            RECFM=FB,LRECL=80
//SYSUT2   DD SYSOUT=*,RECFM=FB,LRECL=80,BLKSIZE=80

Hello,

I'd suggest adding LABEL=(1,BLP) so the label will be printed, not the first data file. Keep in mind that not all sites permit bypass label processing.

You also could use DITTO Utility to print the Label.
