Hi,
Tried to create the sample data sets using ICESAMP given in DFSORT manual, but got the following error message:
DATA FILE (SORT.BRANCH) WAS NOT OPENED SUCCESSFULLY -- ICESAMP TERMINATING
My site uses SyncSORT, so my query is:
Is there any counter part for DFSORT PGM 'ICESAMP' in SYNCSORT, so that I can try hand on the examples given in DFSORT: Getting Started. |

Hello,
DFSORT and SYNCSORT are competing products. Many features in one are not in the other. Some of the features that are in both have different syntax.
To try examples, you will want to use the examples in the Syncsort documentation rather than the DFSORT examples. |

Dick,
I agree that DFSORT and SYNCSORT are competing products.
Still, could find out only DFSORT documentation on this site, material in document was quite crispy to start with, so I want to try the examples given in that.
Made a google search for Sync Sort documentation but didn't find a good doc. If you can direct me to some link in this forum or somewhere else, for Sync Sort, that'll be of great help. |

Hello Anuj,
If your site is a Syncsort licensed customer, you can get all of their material from them for free - via their support site/people.
The Syncsort documentation is copyright material and may not be posted or linked to from our forums. |

Dick,
I got material on SYNCSORT in .pdf format, if it is not against forum rules I can upload that here. |

Hi Anuj,
Unfortunately, we are not allowed to link to or post Syncsort documentation.
Thanks for offering though
What seems to be really difficult is getting folks to get their own from Syncsort. If they have a license, it is quite easy. If they don't, it is foolish or worse to run their system that way. . . |
