Hi,
I'm trying to connect to a Database via SP Builder. I'm getting the following error message while I try to connect.

Connection to <Database Name> Failed.
[IBM][CLI Driver] SQL30081N A Communication error has been detected. Communication protocol being used: "TCP/IP".
Communication API being used: "SOCKETS".
Location where the error was detected: "". Communication function detecting the error. Protocol specific error code(s): "10061","*","*".
SQLSTATE=08001.

I'm able to connect to other databases without any issues. This error throws up only for one database (its the test DB).

I checked by issuing the db2set -all command and I could see DB2COMM=TCPIP in the listing.

Could someone help me out?

Thanks.

Hello,

Has this data source ever worked or is this the first try?

How was the data source created/tested?

Can you connect to "<Database Name>" locally as opposed to via the problem data source? Can you a successfully execute a query via qmf or spufi?

Can you connect to other services on the same host (i.e. ftp)?

The databases were already established and I'm able to access via QMF/SPUFI.
I have few Stored Procedures which I changed. And I need to test them. I use IBM DB2 tool to test them. I am able to connect to my acceptance, prod databases. But I get the below error when I add connection to my test database. Since my codes are in test, I want to test them once in the INT environment.

Hello,

Well, it sounds like the DB2 side of the connection is good to go.

Which may point to

Did you set up your desktop or did someone from database or network support set up this data source? It will be a good idea if you can compare the problem connection with one that is working and see where there is a difference (other than which environment) in the various configuration settings.

Do you know if anyone else has been able to connect to this test database? If so, comparing the problem setup to that setup may help.

In addition to the messages you received and posted, there may be a more comprehensive log that contains detail information. One thing to look for is a file with a date/time the same time your connection failed with an extension of .log or .msg. The date/time would be more recent if other successful connections were made after the problem connection attempt.
