Hi,

In my interview he asked me how will you identify if the Dataset is
a PS or VSAM by viewing the JCL. I told him we could found out by
dataset naming convention, he said. no. Could you help me out.

Regards,
yunus

IDCAMS LISTCAT will tell you if it is VSAM or NONVSAM, and a lot more information as well.

Hello,

From only the execute jcl, you may not be able to tell if a file is VSAM or PS. Something named HLQ.SOME.PAYDATA could be either.

Some places have standards that require one of the nodes of the dataset name be VSAM, but even that does not gurarntee the file really is vsam.
