How do you compress a PS dataset ?

Depending on the number of extents already allocated to the dataset, you can increase the size of any new secondary extents added during the duration of your job by using

//DDNAME DD DSN=whatever,DISP=OLD,SPACE=(CYL,(1,100))

I know this ounds very basic but you an always rename your old datasets and create datasets with same name and increased space as required and copy the renamed ones back the new ones.

Hi

You can compress the dataset by giving z besides the dataset

Eg

z xxx.mysampe.dataset

Hi expat

We can compress only a PDS and not a PS. If we try to compress the PS dataset then we will end up with a message dataset not partitioned

Hope i am correct!!

That is correct, and from what the OP had said, the dataset was a PS dataset.

OP confused us by giving title "How increase the space in PDS"
and in question mentioning PS. icon_smile.gif

But I guess SB37 can occur with PS and SE37 occurs with PDS. So expat's solution is best suited here.
