Is it necessary to use vsam files as physical files in dd statement when a cobol file program is submitting using a jcl |

No. Flat files are allowed. As a matter of fact, temproary files created in the previous steps can be used. |

If code is for VSAM file (Suppose KSDS) and we are giving flat file in JCL, will it work..? I don't think so...
Maybe I haven't understood the question correctly.. |

I assume nikhachandran wanted to know whether only VSAMs are allowed for COBOL file program and answered the same. My reply never meant for providing PS file in the job if the cobol program has VSAM file code and Vice-Versa. |
