This is getting ridiculous, yesterday a new member posted his first post. Poor title, possibly wrong forum and a dumb question. Then he proceeded to answer his post with another question, and then a third.
I edited the title and copied the two additional questions to the first while deleting the additional posts.
I PMed him and told him not to post multiple questions and he replied back that he was sorry and wouldn't do it again.
This morning I looked for his post (to provide maybe an answer and pointers to the manual with his answers) and when finally finding it in a different forum with a different title.
Banned: what is the size of SQLCA
Why?
He had read the rules, his first question was preceded by a paragraph long mantra reciting some of the rules and his desire to abide by them (which I deleted as not needed).
Why was he banned?

If he deserved to be banned for his dumb questions, there are several prominate members that I think should be banned for equally dumb answers.

Yes, I have no other way than removing the 'Ban control' from this site. (Till knowing the result of ibmmainframes.com/viewtopic.php?t=20401

Dear moderators, If you really need to BAN a user(SPAM/ADDs), please issue 3 warnings continuously. Don't mistake me!!! I have no other choices. if you have one, please PM me. Keep in Touch.

I don't find a reason, Anyway I have reactivated the user.

Comments are welcome...

Hello,

While it is harsh, i do believe we need the ability to ban.

Starting a new forum won't prevent the need to ban some people.

We just need to use it carefully. IMHO, a new person should get a PM and maybe a warning, but not a ban until they demonstrate they do not want to prticipate in an acceptable manner. Maybe i'm too "easy", but i'm not sure that a warning for a first post is a good practice. If they don't "change their way" in response to a PM, then warnings/ban would be appropriate.

Several times i've seen a post that i was tempted to "be ugly" responding to, but figured that i'd wait and review it another time. Often, by then, someone else had taken some action.

Yes, we can still Ban a user by issuing 3 continuous warnings. And I didn't remove the Ban control from DFSORT, Job Vacancies & Fun Stuff Forums. Is it manageable?

Yes, we can't manage here without the Ban control. So we decided to give the BAN control back to moderators, but with the ability to 'REBAN' now. That means, if you press the Ban/Warn button by mistake, you can REDO that by issuing a REBAN.
