Hi all,

Why Null indicators are declared as COMP variables.

--> NULL-IND PIC S9(04) COMP.

Hello,

Because that is the way the designers decided to implement. Sometimes there isn't a good why - just a how.

One reason might have been because long ago, some languages did not do well with one-byte binary fields. . .
