SSA means segment search argument.

Purpose of defining SSA is to search one or more fields in segments related to a particular database.

This can be done by defining sequence key or a primary key in your DBD structure.Based on this you define your SSA structure in your COBOL or PL/I program to retrive the specific fields from database to your program.
