Can anyone tell me the full form of DBTS It is a utility under CICS, which I'm using to access a CA Datacom Backend database.
I'm coming up with a learning regarding the same. Just that I am not aware of the expansion of the same.
It would be great help if you could reply to this asap.
Thanks again.
cheers,

The DBTS transaction allows the user to simulate a program's logic online by actually specifying and executing Advantage CA-Datacom/DB Database commands. |

Have you Googled? Have you looked at CA's site for info? That's how I got what I did.
If you wish more info, spend a little time looking for it, |

Yes William, I tried googling, went thru the documents there. None give the expansion of it there.
There are many unrelated ones there like:distributed business transaction standards (DBTS) etc
However, if I come across it's expansion, I'll post it to the group.
Thanks, |

Hello,
If you look in the Datacom Manuals you will learn the structure of the various commands (in COBOL they are issued by a call to DBENTRY). These commands are the same when issued via DBTS. The difference is that DBTS has a formatted screen.
If you are not quite familiar with the Datacom commands, DBTS will be a challange. Even if you are familiar with the Datacom commands, it is rather tedious.
Is there something you want from DBTS that you cannot get using DataQuery? If you are just learning the commands, i'd strongly recommend that you limit yourself to "locate" and "read" commands. Even if you know all of the commands, it is not a good idea to update tables via DBTS.
If you have other questions, let me know - i've supported Datacom for over 20 years. . . |
