can any one please explain about the record format VBS and where it is used practically, it has lrecl=804 and Block size =800 only this is for example only.

i created this file but iam not able to open in view mode also can anyone please help me in this regard. icon_exclaim.gif icon_idea.gif

Do you mean VB - Variable Blocked Records.

lrecl=804 means each record can hold a maximum of 800 bytes. The remaining 4 bytes used for record length.

Block size =800 means each block (physical record) can occupy 800 bytes, that is one record.
