MAXCC=16 in job that copies KSDS to QSAM

I have a job which has several steps, which copies a KSDS file to a QSAM file in each step. In the SYSIN DD we specify IF LASTCC=12 SET MAXXCC=0000. All the KSDS files are empty. The job is running fine for the first two steps, but in the 3rd step it is gives MAXCC=16. The job is using a PGM=SYU8 in each step. But when I ran the step with IDCAMS utility it is running fine.

What is PGM=SYU8? Who wrote it? What does it do?

We dont know about the program SYU8, but the same program is being used in the previous two steps, and the KSDS is empty in those two steps as well, and ths same thing is happening on those two steps i.e KSDS is being copied to to a flat file,in those two steps we are getting a return code of 12 as expected. but in this step we are getting 16.

Please help.....

Hello,

Be very cautious using a program that "We dont know about the program SYU8. . .".

If IDCAMS does all that you need, i'd recommend putting IDCAMS in those steps. You must ensure that IDCAMS not runs successfully, but that it does precisely what you need.

It does not matter that SYU8 runs correctly some of the time. It matters that it is not supportable.
