Hi this is my vsam file PWDMM.MSLJW.DEVIDAS
How to see the structure file without using FILE-AID.

Hi,

there is no facility to see the structure of the VSAM. If you want to see then generate the PS file of the VSAM. You can see the total space used by the VSAM.

IDCAMS has a print function and a listcat function....

Hi help me out,
definatly there is one coomand that we can type with the name of VSAM file then we can see the structure of the Vsam file.
but for the moment i not remebring ..
please help if anybody knows it.

Ofer71,

I think devidas is meaning about the key length, AIX etc, details ...the suggestion of thomson should work with IDCAMS utility ....

So that would lead us to:
LISTCAT ENTRIES(your.vsam.file) ALL
Which can also be executed as a TSO command, if I remember well.

hi guys
i found how to see the structure
like ddname dsn=PWDMM.MSLJW.DEVIDAS
so i will kepp my cursor on vsam file and type B on command promt then we can see the data as well as strucutre. tyr this.
