What are the mandatory parameters for SORT when sorting packed-decimal data?

The mandatory parameters for the SORT statement when sorting any type of data is p,m,f,s where p is the starting position, m is the length, f is the format and s is the order. For sorting packed decimal data, f would be PD, e.g.

Code:

  SORT FIELDS=(11,5,PD,A)


If you're not familiar with DFSORT and DFSORT's ICETOOL, I'd suggest reading through "z/OS DFSORT: Getting Started". It's an excellent tutorial, with lots of examples, that will show you how to use DFSORT, DFSORT's ICETOOL and DFSORT Symbols.
