I already have a dataset which is created thru a Cobol prg. This data set contains a filed which is defined as COMP-3. Later on when design changed this field is changed to alpha numeric. Now when I open in Fileaid what I get is Invalid values. Is there is way to edit this COMP-3 to alpha numeric? Specifically using edit macro?

You'll have to be a bit more specific if you expect to get any meaningful help.

For starters, show us the part of the copybook that contains the field. Show us the part of the file that contains the field.

That should get us started.

Seems like you added this after I sent my comments above:

Yes you can edit the file, but 1st we have to determine if you got the error msg because you had comp-3 data in the file or A/N data.

You give us nothing to go on.
