What is intended when we say that the IMS environment is "plexed".

You like to learn a lot about IMS and ask a lot of questions, which is good. Now also learn, before asking, to follow the link in my signature and search for what you're looking for. The fundamentals of sysplex are described here and you may find a lot more.
