I would like to sort a sequential file based on a key value. Say the key field in in column 82 and the key length is 30. what is the syntax of the sort command? Is it SORT POSITION, LENGTH? |

here i assumed that key field is in character format & u want to sort the file in ascending order. |

If you're not familiar with DFSORT and DFSORT's ICETOOL, I'd suggest reading through "z/OS DFSORT: Getting Started".
