Difference between Reference modification and unstring

Can anybody tell me what is the difference between Reference Modification and Unstring Verb?

RM can be used as both source and destination of moves regardless of the content of the data while Unstring is more limited by the requirements of delimiters.

Hello,

UNSTRING allows the "unloading" of one field into several others and supports delimiters.

Reference modification allows specifying starting position and length within a field.
