Need to sort the file with following records

Hi,

I need to sort the file with following records. Effdate is spaces for XLC and Termdate is spaces for NBS which i have shown as ' '

policy(1-9) Trans(10to13)Effdate(14 to 21)Termdate(22 to 29)

111111111 XLC' '01012000
111111111 XLC' '09012000
111111111 NBS 01012000
111111111 NBS 09012000

output should be
111111111 XLC' '01012000
111111111 NBS 01012000
111111111 XLC' '09012000
111111111 NBS 09012000

SORT FIELDS=(22,8,A,14,8,A,10,3,A),FORMAT=CH

It's really not clear what you're trying to do. Which fields are you sorting on and in what order? Are you trying to sort on termdate for XLC records and effdate for NBS records or what? Is the form of the date mmddyyyy?Do you have 19yy and 20yy dates or just 20yy dates? What is the RECFM and LRECL of the input file?
