Is it possible to display an image like a customers photograph or a fingerprint on a mainframe screen by any means. How would that be stored in the system.
I myself feel this is not a very relevant question but if anybody has an idea about this it would be great. |

I am sorry if the question looks ambiguous.
I am presently not working on any specific requirement that requires an image on the mainframe screen per se..
This is just a technical question. From what I found out its fairly simple to store a jpeg image in a windows based scheme like a VB-ORACLE set up where in the image gets stored in the Oracle DB and gets displayed using a VB based front end.
The query basically is whether this can be achieved in a mainframe. If yes how would we store it in lets say DB2 and is it possible to perhaps display the photograph of a customer lets says for a customer with order# XXX if a query tries to access it.Can CICS handle anything like this.Do we have any such arrangement in a mainframe set up. |

If the mainframe screen is 3270 based, no way.
DB2 can store some pretty huge items and how you use them is up to you.
CICS can deal with HTML, so if you go that route, no sweat. |
