Job Description
PeopleTools COBOL developer responsible for the C and Database API layers for COBOL programs. Works with Applications Developers and Global Support Analysts in trouble shooting issues as the 3rd level support analyst. Manages the technical relationship with the COBOL vendors by submitting and tracking escalated incidents, evaluating new products and patches. Coordinates with Quality Assurance to test new versions and creates packaging for new versions.
Skills Required
BS/MS in EE/CS at least 7 years of experience in development and support of COBOL based products. Must have good working knowledge of COBOL on z/OS and C/C++ programming languages and experience in both Windows and UNIX environments. Development, installation, maintenance and licensing experience with Micro Focus NetExpress / ServerExpress COBOL compilers is strongly desired. Strong experience debugging Cobol/C++ environments using one or more of the debugger such as dbx, gdb, TotalView is required. Moderate SQL knowledge and familiarity with Unicode issues is desired. Familiarity with z/OS (OS390) & UNIX environments is desirable. Must be thorough in documenting work accomplished and creating user documentation for internal and external use. Must work well in virtual teams as the position has a lot of interaction with other departments and customers.
