i encountered a jcl where a step is calling a cobol program.
in that some input files are used.along with it there is sortlib statement which points to a pds with many members.a workfile is also used in that jcl.
i want to know about the use of the sortlib statement. |

SORTLIB is almost never needed for DFSORT. It contains modules used for DFSORT's very old conventional technique which is only used for a sort using tape work data sets (highly discouraged) or a merge when the Blockset technique cannot be used (unusual). |
