Hi,

How to pass a symbolic parameter to a SYSIN card DD file

like

//SYSIN DD DSN=ABC.XYZ,DISP=SHR

ABC.XYZ contains

PQRS.MNOP.A&xxxx

Where xxxx is a symbolic parameter, which value changes for every run. How to pass value to xxxx in the SYSIN dataset ABC.XYZ.

Ravi,

What ever you given that should be in the proc ( cataloged procedure).

Let us assume that one as a PROCA and there is a JCLA that is used to run the PROCA.

//JCLA job -----

//step1 exec proc=PROCA, A=XYZ ( A is specified in the PROCA)

this is the way u need to override the symbolic paramers.

Pls correct Me , If I Wrong icon_smile.gif

You use a program to update the member as needed.

Hi,

Quote:

You mean Dataset ABC.XYZ will contain "PQS.MNOP.A&xxxx" record?
In this record you want to override "xxxx" with current value?

If this is the only record in the Dataset then why cant you use "PQS.MNOP.A&xxxx" directly in SYSIN.

Please clarify?
