lock on system tables

Can we place locks on system tables,if so how

No, it's not possible.

System tables are cataloged, Clear now...

Thanks for the reply
i do have another doubt,as you mentioned the system tables are cataloged..what about the user generated tables..how to i make my own table as catalog..
