Hi,

We have coded a JCL as below

Code:
//SORT1 EXEC PGM=SORT
//SORTIN  DD DSN=CAMS07.KS9401L.KS9401L.BA.G0243V00,DISP=SHR
//SORTOUT DD DSN=TCAMS01.KS9401L.KS9401L.BA.OCT14,
//            DISP=(NEW,KEEP,KEEP),
//            DATACLAS=DATAFX,
//            LRECL=435
//SYSIN DD *
 SORT FIELDS=COPY
/*

where

CAMS07.KS9401L.KS9401L.BA.G0243V00 is a tape entry
We get an error
7 DSS4050E - DATA SET NOT FOUND IN CATALOG

Any pointers.

Thanks

Either you misspelled the dsn or the tape file isn't cataloged.

If the 2nd, include the vol ser# of the tape in the JCL.

Noticed you're copying a GDG. If you want the last generation code (0) instead of GxxxxV00.

In TSO 3.4 option, look for the version if the version is there in catalog then your code should work. Otherwise the dataset is not in catalog.

Hi !

There could be an other reason for not-found in catalog, if you are using a TapeManagementSystem like CA1 ore something like that.

The DSN could be expired in the MVS masterCatalog but will still be in archive of the TapeManagementSystem. If this is in affect, you could have
access to it using your TapemanagementSystem for re-cataloging the vol-ser of the tape.

Regards, UmeySan
