Hi,

I have the following requirement

I have one input file which has the following fields

ACCOUNT NUMBER and CODE

As of now CODE has only two values 1 and 2 and I know that the CODE values will be increased 1,2,3,4??.like??..

So I have to create the number of files based on CODE values dynamically?.

if the CODE has the values 1 and 2 then I have to create 2 files and if the CODE has the values 1,2,3 then I have to create 3 files and if the CODE has the values 1,2,3,4 then I have to create 4 files dynamically??and so on and so forth?

Note : I don?t know the unique values of CODE in the input file means?.it may 1 or 1,2 or 1,2,3, or and so on and so forth?.. Can we do like this?.

I hope you understood my problem?..

May I know whether I can create the files dynamically using the cobol program...

thx in advance....

pavan

Hi !

If i interpret your question correctly, you have to create a various numer of files depending on an condition. This could be one to n output-files.

So, perhaps if condition 1 and 2 is true, you have to create and write data to file-1 and file-2. If condition 1 and 4 and 7 is true, you have to create and write data to files 1,4 and 7.

I don't remeber an easy way to do this in Cobol, but if you could invoke a assembler-subprogramm, this could do that. In assembler you could modify the DCB of an file.

If you could do that, i can give you a short sample of modifying DCB in assembler.
