Hi,

Please help me out a way to skip the FTP step (or to avoid the abend) when the file is not available in the server to receive from the remote system. I submit the FTP through JCL in mainframes.

Thanks in advance,
Saru

Use a directory list (dir or ls) to determine if the file is present on the server or not. From there, you can determine whether or not to run the FTP step.

Hi,

Is it possible to use IF statements in FTP commands. The process of skipping the FTP step if the file is not available in the Remore server needs to be automated.
I would like to know if the file is available in the server and if the file is not available the FTP step to GET the file from the remote server needs to be skipped.

Thanks,
saru

Logon to the FTP server. Type "help". The server will return a list of all of its supported FTP commands. I doubt you'll find "if", but you never know.

If the file is not available on the server, then why are you scheduling your FTP job? Why isn't your schedule setup to not run until the required file is present?

Hi,

The FTP needs to be automated in the production trail. The FTP file to be received is from the other system. Due to some technical problems on other system, the file might not be available in the server but the job scheduled in our system would start executing the FTP step (as it done thru scheduler).

Thanks,
Saru
