what is difference betwen plan and package??

i am having doubts regarding the difference between plan and package in sql..
where exactly the difference occurs and what is the significant aplication of both,,,,

First the concept of plan has come

Plan:-
Plan is a concept where the programs are placed (DBRM's) in other sence, Plan is a collection of DBRM's

Package:-
Each DBRM constitute a Package, and no of packages constitute a plan.

So the modified definetion of the plan is "Collection of DBRM's"

Advantage of Packages over the plan,

I have program A and Program B (subprogram called by program A)
I precomile and place theirs DBRM's in plan. Now a need is their to change the program B. So I need to precompile both Program A and Program B, after chaning the code of Program B

So a concept of Package, Package make only the location like to mainprogram.
If I want to change Program B, I need to Precompile only it. So their is no need to precompile Program A
