Hi,

As I know Level no 78 in new specifications for COBOL is used to declare user defined constants.

Bye,

Hi ,

Retrofitting is retrieval or refresh of existing batch file-oriented applications to the new standard like MQSeries and Mobile Application support. This is a process of converting traditional legacy applications to support mobile technology.

Great Day,

In mainframes working with the projects,

Two diff people are working on same program, in which case, Developler A's changes go first. Now the patch work that B does, to incorporate his logic is called retrofit. There is a very margianl probability that this situation arises in edevor or panvalet. But in code generation using cool:gen, you could see this quite commonly.

The sense that I've seen the term used is in a situation where an old and new method of performing a task coexist. For example, a subset of customers are bound by local law to do business in a certain way. The business provider may update to a new system for whatever reason but also maintain the old system for that customer subset.

At some point in time a given feature (or set of features) is introduced to the new system and proves to be so beneficial that it is "retrofit" into the old system as well. Changes in federal, state or local laws can also trigger "retrofitting". The process is not necessarily limited to systems.
Application pgms and manual processes come to mind.

I'm sure there are many more examples, but my model will help give you a feel for the situations where the term may apply.

Retrofitting is the configuration management term.If you are working on mainframe projects then it may happen that changes done in element A in project M and also same element is impacted for project N i.e there would be changes done in same element A in project N.In such case depending on the migration date retrofitting needs to done. Suppose project M is going to be release on 25th May with element A and project N is going to be release on 31st May then programmer working on project N should retrofit the code with changes done in the project M i.e code should also reflect the changes done in project M which is going prior to project N.
