Inter system communication

How does an inter sytem communication happen. say, there are 2 systems that need to communicate say thru SWIFT messages. how will one system recieve the messages, am not sure if this is the right forum to ask this doubt, but if any one can direct me please...

Do you know about how cics system starts up?
and what are the parameters required for start up?

if u do then u can find answer in those parameters.
