Give a GN Call to that perticular segment until you get a end of record status code that is GE or GB (I dun remember, it has been time now I worked on)... Increment a couner every time return code is SPACES....
at the last value of counter is what u need.... |

priyesh answered your question. Another method would be using the IMS pointer checker.
If you're not looking for the number of occurences of each segment but for the number of segments, you'll find that straight in the DBD, of course. |

i was asked if there is any method to know the No. of occurances in a segment
i would like to know if there is any command
like F for first occurance or from DBD
like u get to knw the Size of the segment
so can we find the occurances from the size the segment is occupying |

No we cant get the number of occuances directly .. the only meathod which Priyesh told you.
And Btw f is a comman code it is dirctly go to first occurance for that segment |
