hi everybody,
one of my friend has by mistake updated the production data(a table) through a update query and commited.
the table has no backups.
can anybody suggest any method by which it can be retrieved back to its original state?

Trk,
In most shops after daily batch jobs when get over would be having a job scheduled for taking Image copy of teh table for backing up the table data.Check that.If its there you can build the table with the latest image copy..Get in touch with DBA for this.
Its always better to take an unload of table when venbturing in to this..

hi,
if ur friend has access to update the table, then he might have access to delete that particular data. Check for keys and make ur record a unique one and delete. |

Its an Call for DBA!
Yes it is possible to recover by applying the LOG.
Please contact your DBA' soon.Sooner u inform them its easier to recover.

Image copy is the best option.......In most of the shops it is must and DBA's do that.
Just try it. |
