Hi everybody,

I am trying to create a data set which will help me to see the layout of a file.
There are certain dags for which I want to see the layouts in the particular data set.
How do I create a data set(or file) which includes the dags, so I that I can see the layouts for those dags, in the data set. As, this will help me to read the raw data file.
Could somebody please help me with the JCL, I will need to do this job.

Thanks in advance,

I read your post 4 times, and still couldn't understand your requirements.

Will you please elaborate?

I have a master file, which have lots of dags in it. These dags have specific data groups.
I am trying to read the data in the dags.
I want to create a file which will define the master files with the dags. So when I try to see the layout of the dags, I know exactly the location of these dags in the master file. The location of these dags in the master file is redefined all the time. So everytime, I have to make sure that I look at the layout of the master file, with the location of each dag in the master file.
I hope this helps you

Thanks

sachi4245,

I'm in concurrence with ofer71, I?ve read your post several times and don?t understand what you?re trying to do.

First, what is a DAG? I?ve never heard the term before. Sheltered career!

?So you have a file, consisting of several fields. You want to know the location of these fields within the file? Maybe if you give some specific examples of what the file might look like, and what you want to create from it, and how you intend to use the information.

It sounds like you want something more than just a copybook definition of the file layout.

Please come back with more information, Sound interesting.

Dave

You can create a XREF and use it in Fileaid to view the different DAG layouts.
