I need to write out a record counter, but to suppress all leading zeroes.
Any ideas?

How about ZS parameter?

You may set this value at session level, program level, statement level and output-element level.

First - my mistake. The parameter is ZP.

Now, NATURAL has default zero suppression for numeric fields. Unless you epecify (EM=9999), the result is zero suppressed.

If you still have problem, you may try (EM=ZZZZZ).
