Hi,
I have a GDG with 5 generations.
'MYLIB.LIB.TEST.G0001V00'
'MYLIB.LIB.TEST.G0002V00'
'MYLIB.LIB.TEST.G0003V00'
'MYLIB.LIB.TEST.G0004V00'
'MYLIB.LIB.TEST.G0005V00'
I want to know at what situation this GDG version will change?
I mean when 'MYLIB.LIB.TEST.G0001V00' will become 'MYLIB.LIB.TEST.G0001V01'? |

Only when you specifically rename it:
TSO RENAME 'MYLIB.LIB.TEST.G0001V00' 'MYLIB.LIB.TEST.G0001V01'
For more details, see Chapter 29. Processing Generation Data Groups in the z/OS V1R6.0 DFSMS: Using Data Sets. |

The version of GDG also changes / increases when there is problem with system and for the retaintion of data the )O/S itself creates newer version of GDG . i.e. MYLIB.LIB.TEST.G0001V00 and all its available generations becomes MYLIB.LIB.TEST.G0001V01 ... |

Hi
The Version no's never change its the generation which changes. Hence G001V00 can't be changed to G001V01 until u do it manually.
Cheers
