Difference between Non-VSAM program and VSAM ESDS program

Hi All,

How can we differentiate a Non-VSAM COBOL program and a VSAM ESDS program by just looking program only.

For ex: In case of KSDS or RRDS, we can tell it as a VSAM program by looking their organization. In the same way how can we recognize whether a program is Non-VSAM or VSAM ESDS program by looking just respective COBOL program?

Hi kasojjala,

In the select statement of Environment division it will be mentioned that- Select infile assign to AS-ddname. This can be mentioned only for ESDS file.
