The first fours chracters of an input message on the CICS screen is the CICS Transaction ID(TRID).When a message arrives,CICS identifies the terminal that it is coming from by looking up the TRID on its Terminal Control Table(TCT).Once it identifies the terminal from which the information is sent it passes the information(i.e. the TRID with the other message input from the terminal to the CICS task control table. The task control table creates a task for the request and calls on the program from the program control table(PCT) for the requested transaction. |

EIB(execute interface block) is a special block of data that is being passed between programs. This is used to send the information about the transaction to the application program for further processing. |
