How VSAM differs from DB2

How VSAM differs from DB2. Normally VSAM holds the data from the DB2.

VSAM is a File Management System(FMS) and DB2 is a Data Base Management System(DBMS). So you can enlist all the difference between VSAM & DB2 on the basis of that concept.

FMS doesn't know generally the record lay-out, hence any attempt to fetch data based on specific conditions of record structure couldn't be successful. Like get all STUDENTS with MARKS > 85

Again there are security concerns with the FMS too.

You can check out all the characteristics of a DBMS, and it'll make a clear difference than FMS.
