hi
v can use skiprec option is used to copy the particular records in a file
for example if u want to copy 50 th record to 100 record means (the file contains 100 rec) u ill give sort field=copy skiprec=49,stopaft=50 means it will first skip 49 rec and copy the remaining rec |

I have file which i want to Modify as per the records...if the record contains a particular digit at a particular position the record should not be modified but copied as it is...otherwise it should be modified and copied to the out file. |

Could you please tell some more details what you need to do ?
SKIPREC is simply to SKIP any records
e.g. You have a file of 100 records and you only want to copy 1-9 and then 11-100 then we can use this.
SORT FIELDS=COPY,
SKIPREC=10,
END
Please correct me if I am wrong. |

Hi aAhilasha,
The option you want to use is probably OMIT (or INCLUDE) depending on what you require.
How it's used can get complicated so use the SORT manual of your choice to make those decisions.
